By Sam Laskaris Writer Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation Chief Stacey Laforme had a couple of major responsibilities this past Saturday. One of his duties was rather public. During an on-ice ceremony Laforme delivered the land acknowledgement prior to the Toronto Maple Leafs’ home game versus the Detroit Red Wings at Scotiabank Arena. It was the first time the Toronto franchise held an Indigenous Celebration game. “It’s nice,” Laforme said. “I’m excited to have an opportunity to get a world-famous team like this to commit to a relationship. As a first step, this is wonderful.
