And as it turned out, the local boys’ Under 15 hockey squad, managed to accomplish its ultimate goal. Six Nations welcomed them home in style with a Champions’ Parade down Chiefswood Road Sunday night to the arena. The Blackhawks won a provincial title on Sunday – taking top honours in its 12-team Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) Tier 2 championship tournament. Blackhawks’ head coach Dwayne Doxtator believes this is the first time in at least the past decade that a Six Nations squad has won an OMHA crown.
