We have hit another milestone. Turtle Island News’ annual Earth Day Tree Giveaway has hit 25 years! This year we hit the quarter century mark in giving away trees and we couldn’t be happier about it. The idea of donating trees came about because as the community’s newspaper we wanted to make sure we were following Haudenosaunee values and ensuring that we too are being environmentally responsible for the paper we use and the trees that provide it. So, we began with handing out a box load of trees some 25 years ago and it has grown yearly just as the crowds that come here have.
