Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation may launch legal action to stop Ford government Green Belt intrusion cites no consultation

By Lisa Eisse Writer The Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation (MCFN) may pursue court action against the Ford government, but Chief Laforme is not waiting for a court date to speak out. MCFN Chief Stacey Laforme said his community may pursue legal action against the Ford government’s negligence and failure to consult with them on the proposed development of the Greenbelt. Premier Doug Ford announced last fall the province’s plans to open for development almost two million acres of previously protected green space, farmland, forests and wetlands in southern Ontario which make up the Greenbelt.
