Turtle Island News’ annual Earth Day Festival\u00a0is working to help preserve Ontario\u2019s Carolinian Forest Zone, the largest segment of which is the Six Nations forests!<\/span><\/p>\n Six Nations Forests are the lifeblood of Southern Ontario\u2019s fragile eco-regions and can even be spotted from the air. Yes, the largest patch of forest, visible even on a satellite image shot hundreds of kilometres above the air is the Six Nations Forest….the single largest block of Carolinian woodland in Canada.<\/span><\/p>\n At Turtle Island News we are working to help preserve that forest.<\/span><\/p>\n Each year Turtle Island\u2008News holds an Earth Day Festival, on April 22, that includes not only free booths featuring green energy products, tips and green living ideas from area businesses and organizations but the highlight of the day is a free tree give-away.<\/span><\/p>\n More than 8,000 Carolinian Forest Indigenous trees have been handed out to adults, students, elementary school kids from Six Nations and surrounding towns and villages who attend our one day event!<\/span><\/p>\n All with one aim.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n And you can help!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n We are looking for sponsors to help us make more trees available.<\/span><\/p>\n More hickories, oak trees, tulip trees, walnut, maples, white pines, cedars and more…all indigenous to the Carolinian Forest zone one of North America\u2019s most vibrant and fragile eco-regions!<\/span><\/p>\n We are asking for your help in helping us give out free trees to all those attending. <\/span><\/p>\nTo preserve the Six Nations forest, comprising roughly 50% of Six Nations’ 18,000 ha size, that also is home to large numbers of neo-tropical migrant birds including the Cerulean Warbler and Yellow-breasted Chat.<\/span><\/h4>\n
