Mi\u2019kmaq elder Katy Macewan opened a meeting with prayer recently when members of Membertou First Nation gathered to hear the history of the King\u2019s Road Reserve \u2013 the site their ancestors called home for centuries. It was fitting for Macewan because she is a surviving member of the last family that was forced to leave the Sydney reserve by the federal government in 1929.
