Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) asked the federal government on March 26 to delay the ban on rapid reloading guns by five years. \u201cThe amnesty period will expire on Oct. 30, 2026. After this date, owners of prohibited firearms who do not come into compliance with the law risk losing their possession and acquisition licence and [would be] facing criminal liability,\u201d said Simon Lafortune, press secretary for the Minister of Public Safety.
