The corps has operated in We\u2019koqma\u2019q First Nation since 2010, when it was established by John Burt to provide local youth with opportunities for growth and development. Lt. Andrew T. Smith, who has served as a commanding officer since the corps was founded, said support from other Cape Breton cadet corps helped get the program off the ground. \u201cBut Jonny did put a lot of work into the corps.
