By Kody Ferron, Local Journalism Initiative Reporter, Yellowknifer The Deninu Kue First Nation (DKFN) in Fort Resolution is pulling its support for the Taltson hydro expansion project, claiming that DKFN has been sidelined for years. \u201c[The] DKFN chief and council have determined that DKFN cannot support and will object to the Taltson expansion development,\u201d wrote Deninu Kue First Nation Chief Louis Balsillie, in an Aug. 26 statement. Balsillie posted a long list of reasons why the First Nation has decided to withdraw its support for expanding Taltson. He stated that the First Nation has participated in the development process of the Taltson expansion \u201cin good faith,\u201d but that despite this, the group was not guaranteed any benefits from the project. \u201cThere has been a long history of DKFN being excluded… <\/p>\n
