Not every child in the early 2000s, or even today, had that opportunity. But Dunkley was a student at Karihwan\u00f3:ron Mohawk Immersion School, which, at nearly 40 years old, is one of Kahnawake\u2019s most enduring success stories in the drive to transmit Kanien\u2019keh\u00e1:ka teachings and perhaps one day restore Kanien\u2019k\u00e9ha as the community\u2019s common language. \u201cIt had such a positive impact on my life because growing up I always had the cultural teachings,\u201d said Dunkley.
