By Lisa Iesse Writer SIX NATIONS OF THE GRAND – Fear of a potential lawsuit or land claim has Norfolk\u2019s latest version of a proposed \u201cIndigenous acknowledgement\u201d leaving out any reference to land and the First Nations connected to it including the Haudenosaunee and Mississaugas. At Norfolk County\u2019s December 19th council meeting, Councillor Tom Masschaele urged it was council\u2019s \u201cduty\u201d to implement an \u201cIndigenous acknowledgment\u201d as a way to \u201cwork toward truth and reconciliation \u2014 not just on Orange Shirt Day, but every day.\u201d Norfolk County is right next door to the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation (MCFN), and Six Nations (the most populous First Nation in the country). Other counties bordering Six Nations and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation (MCFN) do practise Indigenous land acknowledgments. Brant County… <\/p>\n
