Caron, who is the youngest and first female president in MNC history, announced her decision not to seek re-election after a single term at a May 23 news conference on Parliament Hill. Caron said the MNC \u201cneeded significant rebuilding as a national Indigenous organization\u201d at the time she secured election in September 2021. \u201cFrom the outset of my term, I committed to leading this period of change and transition.
