Then 34 years old, Peters was believed to be hitchhiking back to D\u2019Arcy at the time near the railroad tracks. It wasn\u2019t until 1992 that Peters\u2019 loved ones found out what happened him, when Pemberton RCMP launched a full-scale investigation into the case after receiving a tip. His parents were told by RCMP officers he was hit by a car in Mount Currie, hurled 15 metres through the air, and buried in a shallow grave. Where, they couldn\u2019t say.
