Nakoda Fire, Bighorn Emergency Services and the Cochrane Fire Department were called to respond to the blaze, reported around 8:20 p.m. Thursday night (July 25) and worked well into the night trying to put it out. \u201cThe loss of the structure \u2013 it\u2019s a blow to the community,\u201d said Nakoda Emergency Services director Reg Fountain. \u201cBut thanks to the support of our neighbouring jurisdictions\u2019 fire departments, we were able to contain the fire solely to that structure.\u201d Fire crews still on site Friday (July 26) putting out hot spots at the destroyed Stoney Medicine Lodge near M\u00een\u00ee Thn\u00ee on \u00cey\u00e2rhe Nakoda First Nation.
