The association still recruits, but, these days, it hires from within its own community. Arviat Housing Association manager Gleason Uppahuak oversees an operation that has six positions in the administration department and 16 in the maintenance department. Uppahuak said Arviat Housing currently has about 500 units that it administers and maintains, with another 500 people on a waiting list.
