Band member Amber Bernard shared her thoughts on the settlement, which range from excitement for her fellow We\u2019koqma\u2019q neighbours to sadness regarding the lasting effects of colonization. \u201cWhen the offer was first given, I thought, \u2018Oh wow, this is amazing,\u2019 because it\u2019s something that my grandparents and my parents have spoken about for most of their lives. To see that settlement finally happen, I thought it was really great for everyone who has been waiting for a very long time. For me, I\u2019m excited,\u201d Bernard explained. \u201cI know that\u2019s what the community voted in favour of, but another part of me can\u2019t… <\/p>\n
