It was fall, two or three years ago. Tyee Wilson Jack was bucking up a log for firewood when he saw something move on the right side of his periphery. \u201cDid something just stand up?\u201d thought the Yuu\u0142u\u0294i\u0142\u0294at\u1e25 (Ucluelet First Nation) Hereditary Chief. \u201cI didn\u2019t want to turn my head, but I moved my eyes. I swore. It\u2019s a frickin\u2019 Pookemis.\u201d \u201cHe\u2019s just watching me,\u201d Jack thought as he continued chopping, as he said to himself, \u201cI\u2019m not gonna panic. One more swing and I\u2019m gonna look.\u201d \u201cTHWACK!\u201d Jack swung his axe then turned his head to look. The creature jumped off the stump… <\/p>\n
