The forum provides a networking space for developing opportunities and partnerships with Indigenous communities. \u201cThese gatherings matter,\u201d said Marsha Smoke, Anishinabek Nation Southeast Regional Chief. \u201cThe support is there for those working in communities on economic development issues. I really believe that it\u2019s important to lift people up, and so they know that we\u2019re proud of what they do and that they should be proud of their accomplishments as well,\u201d she said. Speakers discussed the challenges and struggles unique to First Nation communities.
