Protesters cited concerns over the legislation\u2019s impacts on environmental \u00a0protections, Indigenous consultation, and threats to archeological \u00a0preservation. The protest was organized by the Trent University \u00a0Native Association (TUNA) and supported by the Trent University Student \u00a0Association (TCSA). \u201cWe’re really concerned about the expedited \u00a0process of resource extractive infrastructure. So it’s pipelines, mines, \u00a0all those different types of things, especially in the Ring of Fire, \u00a0which is really going to affect Northern Ontario Indigenous people,\u201d \u00a0said TUNA president, Katie Lariviere, who is Anishinaabe from Garden \u00a0River First Nation near Sault St. Marie.
