‘Refrain from going there,’ police ask residents of restricted wildfire areas

By Mike Stimpson, Local Journalism Initiative Reporter, SNnewswatch.com ARMSTRONG — Provincial police are asking the public to stay out of restricted areas while firefighters continue to address Thunder Bay 36, the 314,000-hectare wildfire that prompted the evacuation of Whitesand First Nation, Armstrong and other communities. In a short video message posted this week on social media, OPP Staff Sgt. Kyle Arnold says police are “actively investigating” recent break-ins and thefts in Armstrong and Whitesand “and continue to do active patrols.” “So I want to remind everyone not to return to the restricted areas,” Sgt.
