Cupido had served as an assistant coach for the Chiefs last year when they captured their national Senior A lacrosse title. Cupido, who is now 33, had gone behind the Six Nations bench, primarily to assist the club’s defensive players, as he himself was recovering from a surgery to repair his torn Achilles tendon.
