The corporation, owned by Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, has obtained $8.7 million in federal money to buy 20.3 acres and put up “a 24-unit apartment building for affordable housing for urban Indigenous people who are living and taking training in the city of Kenora,” Kekekoziibii chief executive officer Diane Redsky said Wednesday. The land near 9th Street has water, sewer and hydro service connections, Redsky said.
