Haines Junction school without principal and teachers for multiple grades

By  Talar Stockton, Local Journalism Initiative Reporter  St. Elias Community School in Haines Junction is dealing with nine educator vacancies, according to the president of the Yukon Association of Education Professionals. Ted Hupé told the News in an Oct. 28 interview that the school is looking for primary and intermediate teachers, a principal and educational assistants. St. Elias Community School is operated by the First Nation School Board (FNSB). It offers classes from kindergarten to grade 12, according to the school’s website. It follows the B.C. curriculum with Yukon First Nations and Champagne and Aishihik First Nations content as a foundation, reads the school’s website.
