Perhaps no one. “There’s little greenwashing specific laws in Canada overall, and there are no laws that prohibit the government specifically from greenwashing,” Ecojustice Finance Lawyer Tanya Jemec told The Pointer. “The only greenwashing-specific laws in Canada are limited to deceptive marketing.” The Competition Act has historically required corporations and businesses making environmentally friendly claims about their products or activities to base them on adequate and proper testing using internationally recognized methodologies, to prove what they say.
