By Maggie Kirk Local Journalism Initiative At the 52nd annual Algoma Fall Festival, Canadian storytellers Tanya Talaga and Mike Downie engaged in a thought-provoking discussion about Talaga’s latest book and documentary series, The Knowing. Wednesday’s event featured a book reading, signing, and open conversation that underscored the pair’s shared commitment to truth and reconciliation. Talaga, an Anishinaabe author and freelance columnist for The Globe and Mail, and Downie, co-founder of the Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund, engaged the audience with their reflections on The Knowing, Canada’s colonial history, and the path to healing.
