The Ontario First Nations Sovereign Wealth Fund is in a solid position, but its funds won’t be available to any First Nation until 2030. Ron Jamieson, who sits on the Ontario First Nations Sovereign Wealth Fund (OFNSWF) board on behalf of Six Nations Elected Council (SNEC) came to the General Finance meeting on August 19 to give the new council a better idea of the fund and its progress. The fund was an agreement between 129 Ontario First Nations, including Six Nations, that purchase more than 14 million shares of Hydro One six years ago.
