Deninu Kue First Nation announces opposition to Taltson hydro expansion project

By Kody Ferron, Local Journalism Initiative Reporter, Yellowknifer The Deninu Kue First Nation (DKFN) in Fort Resolution is pulling its support for the Taltson hydro expansion project, claiming that DKFN has been sidelined for years. “[The] DKFN chief and council have determined that DKFN cannot support and will object to the Taltson expansion development,” wrote Deninu Kue First Nation Chief Louis Balsillie, in an Aug. 26 statement. Balsillie posted a long list of reasons why the First Nation has decided to withdraw its support for expanding Taltson.
