Language revitalization is improving Indigenous physical and mental health, UBC researchers say

That is what University of British Columbia researchers are linking to in a recent review. “I was really happy to see validation in something that we already knew was true,” said Karleen Delaurier-Lyle, the study’s co-author and librarian at UBC’s X̱wi7x̱wa Library. “I was just excited because I knew that it would likely benefit a lot of folks that are doing this important revitalization work.” Researchers from UBC led the review with help from the University of Toronto and the University of Sydney looking at 262 academic and community resources.
