By Joshua Santos Writer Ontario First Nations leaders are sounding the alarm over a proposed provincial law concerned that it could undermine their inherent and Treaty rights in the rush to fuel a mining and infrastructure boom. The Chiefs of Ontario are urging the provincial government to prioritize meaningful consultation and respect for Indigenous sovereignty as they push forward with ambitious economic development plans.
