Municipalities downstream of the site – where the Region of Waterloo is looking to turn 770 acres of farmland into an industrial development– may suffer the consequences, says agrologist Ann Loeffler. A portion of the land acquired by the region was stripped of its healthy corn crop in the summer of 2024.
